Jack White

JACK VS. JACK

On April 10 & 11, 1908, a Chicago boxer named Jack White stepped into the ring. Exactly 117 years later—on those same dates in 2025—another Jack White came out swinging, this time onstage at Chicago’s Salt Shed.

To commemorate two sold-out shows, I designed a pair of 18x24 silkscreened posters—each referencing an actual bout the original Jack White fought on those same dates more than a century earlier. The posters feature a historical photograph of the boxer, along with vertical text recounting the outcome of each fight. So you don’t have to tilt your head to the left and right like you’re avoiding a punch in a fight, here’s the text from each poster in an easier-to-read format:

The main header text is crossed out to match the visual language of Jack’s No Name tour and album, which often features strikethrough text elements.

The credit text scrawled across the bottom of each poster includes faux “fight card” language. Here’s that text in a cleaner format—so you don’t have to squint like you’ve just been hit with a flying fist:

In addition to the show posters, I designed two large 48x72 prints that flanked the venue’s entrance. Watching fans photograph themselves with them—and walk between them on their way into the show—was a thrill.

I also created a quartet of 24x36 posters for display inside the venue.
